How long does it take to complete CeMAP? Our regulated, total qualification time for completing CeMAP is 230 hours. But what does that really mean?
The truth is, there’s no simple answer.
Some of our previous CeMAP students completed all three modules in as little as three months. Others took a year. It all depends on your personal responsibilities and goals.
But whatever your situation, when you register for CeMAP you have 12 months to sit your exam. You can register for all three CeMAP modules at the same time or for each individually.
Planning for CeMAP study
Working out a plan that suits you is a great starting point for deciding how much time you’ll realistically need to complete CeMAP.
Organising your study timetable should be straightforward. Many people find it helpful to start with the recommended 230 hours and put them in a calendar. This will give you an end-date goal to aim for.
However, the time it takes to complete CeMAP can vary enormously depending on your circumstances.
Let’s say, for example, you’re working full-time and studying in your evenings and weekends. If you don’t have any distractions, you should be able to complete CeMAP in six months.
But if your lifestyle leaves little room for study – perhaps because you have young children or other caring responsibilities – CeMAP will take longer, most likely the full 12 months.
You might be one of those lucky people whose CeMAP is supported by your employer. Some employers do give employees study time as part of their working day, so it may be worth talking to them – especially if the qualification relates to your job. With employer support, you could complete CeMAP in three months.
CeMAP study support
Everyone learns at their own pace and in their own way. But it’s always worth thinking about how long it’s been since you last studied. If it’s been a while – or you’re not confident – you have lots of options for study support.
You might consider buying extra study materials, like the CeMAP revision tool – an online exam practice paper that will help you assess your practical knowledge. You can select the topic you want and adjust the tool to test you at different levels. The tool will also give you detailed feedback and help you identify the gaps in your knowledge. The tool also includes mock exams with a real-time counter to simulate real-life exam conditions.
If human interaction and learning face-to-face is more your style, then why not attend a CeMAP training course? Different trainers have different styles of support and teaching. Read through their approaches carefully to decide if they suit you.
However long it takes you to get CeMAP qualified, once you have successfully completed it, you can use the CeMAP designation after your name and in your email signature – alerting your customers to your professional credentials. You’ll also receive a certificate that you can display in your office.
Most important of all, you’ll be able to help your customers make the right choices for the biggest investment of their lives while you yourself are set for a successful future. That has to be 230 hours well spent.
