New qualification launched for payments industry

10 March, 2017Eoghan Hughes

The London Institute of Banking & Finance has today introduced a new qualification for those working in the global payments industry.

The Certificate in Principles of Payments (CertPAY) is a specialist qualification for anyone working in the industry including payments professionals, managers and operational, compliance and risk teams. It provides a comprehensive understanding of payments, from terminology to the mechanics of moving money across the globe. It also covers key areas relating to compliance, risk, regulation, and strategy.

CertPAY is designed for professionals to demonstrate their expertise and understanding to both employers and customers and sits within The London Institute of Banking & Finance’s professional qualifications framework. It has also been endorsed by the SWIFT Institute.

Martin Day, Managing Director, Corporate and Professional Qualifications at The London Institute of Banking & Finance, said:

“With increasing digitalisation, the global payments industry has been revolutionised in recent years.  As banks and other financial organisations look to capitalise on customers’ use of technology and desire for simplicity, a whole new range of challenges and opportunities have arisen.

“As an industry we need to equip our students with the knowledge and skills to cultivate these opportunities, while mitigating against their risks. The launch of CertPAY is an important step in helping us to meet these goals and enhance the professionalism and employability of all those working within the payments sector.”

Peter Ware, Director of SWIFT Institute, said:

”SWIFT Institute recognises the importance of continuing education to keep up with the technological and regulatory changes taking place in payments today. We are pleased to endorse CertPay as  a valuable learning experience.”
